Here is NFFN Cymru's response to an important piece of legislation being considered in the Senedd, setting out how Wales will respond to the climate and nature emergencies.

The Welsh Government introduced its Environment (Principles, Governance and Biodiversity Targets) (Wales) Bill to the Senedd at the start of June 2025. The overall aim of this piece of legislation is to shape and strengthen how Wales will respond to the climate and nature crises.

The Bill is currently at the initial scrutiny stage in the Senedd, and is expected to receive Royal Assent to become law in April 2026.

NFFN Cymru broadly welcomes this piece of legislation as a response to the current climate and biodiversity emergencies. However, we believe regulation will need to be fair and proportionate and that adequate levels of funding will need to be offered to farmers to support them in restoring nature on their land.
