PRIVACY POLICY – NATURE FRIENDLY FARMING NETWORK
The Nature Friendly Farming Network (NFFN) is committed to protecting your privacy and security. This Privacy Policy explains how and why we use your personal data, to ensure you remain informed and in control of your information. You can decide not to receive communications or change how we contact you at any time. If you wish to do so please contact Martin Lines by email at Martin.Lines@nffn.org.uk, write to FREEPOST: NATURE FRIENDLY FARMING NETWORK or telephone 07770266455.
ABOUT US
Your personal data (i.e. information which identifies you, or which can be identified as relating to you personally) will be collected and used by the NFFN.
WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect data you provide to us. This includes information you give when joining, signing up online or via a signup postcard, or communicating with NFFN. We collect data from farmers, member organisations and the general public.
If you are a farmer, we will collect your personal details, such as name, email address, address, contact number, type of farm and individual preferences when you sign up to NFFN. Where possible, we will also collect an alternative mode of contact such as full address or telephone number;
If you are a partner organisation, we will collect your contact email and telephone number when you accept our invitation to join the network via the NFFN steering group;
If you are a member of the general public, we will collect details, such as your name, address, email address when you sign up to NFFN.
We do not normally collect or store sensitive personal data (such as information relating to health, beliefs or political affiliation).
HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We only use your personal data with your consent or where it is necessary in order to:
enter into, or perform a contract with you;
comply with a legal duty;
protect your vital interests;
for our own (or a third party’s) lawful interests, provided your rights do not override these.
If you are a farmer, we will require the data to contact you with monthly updates and opportunities for you to input further (as per your desired preferences). If you are a partner organisation there will be the opportunity for you to pass information to other farmers via the NFFN steering group. We will then contact only those of you who have expressed an interest in the topic through your preferences. Invitations to events could include political campaigning, sharing best practice, possibly fundraising or else, as determined by the NFFN steering group. If you are a member of the public, we will require the data to contact you with newsletters and possibly with requests to support the NFFN campaigns should you opt for that preference. We will monitor some of our members by county so that we can assess where more targeted recruitment might be needed. We will also use this information as an advisory tool for NFFN.
HOW WE PROTECT DATA
We employ a variety of physical and technical measures to keep your data safe and to prevent unauthorised access to, or use or disclosure of your personal information. Electronic data and databases are stored on a secure computer system (password protected, with limited admin login and multi factor authentication). We control who has access to information and that they receive adequate data protection training. The secure computer system has nightly backups and a full server off site incremental backup. Whenever we collect your data on paper, such as a signup postcard for events, we store this securely in locked draws and input the data to the contact management system.
SHARING DATA
We will never sell your personal data. We will not share personal information within the NFFN or with partner organisations. We may share personal data with subcontractors or suppliers who provide us with services. However, these activities will be carried out under a contract which imposes strict requirements on our supplier to keep your information confidential and secure.
STORING DATA
The NFFN is based in the UK and we store our data within the European Union. We only use and store information for as long as it is required and solely for the purposes it was collected for. We continually review what information we hold and delete what is no longer required. We do not store payment information.
KEEPING YOU IN CONTROL
We want to ensure you remain in control of your personal data. Part of this is making sure you understand your legal rights, which are as follows:
the right to confirmation as to whether or not we have your personal data, and, if we do, to obtain a copy of the personal information we hold (this is known as subject access request);
the right to have your data erased (though this will not apply where it is necessary for us to continue to use the data for a lawful reason);
the right to have inaccurate data rectified;
the right to object to your data being used for marketing or profiling; and
where technically feasible, the right to personal data you have provided to us which we process automatically on the basis of your consent or the performance of a contract. This information will be provided in a common electronic format.
Complaints If you wish to make a complaint about your data protection and privacy rights you can contact NFFN directly by using the details set out above. If you are not happy with our response, or you believe that your data protection or privacy rights have been infringed, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office which regulates and enforces data protection law in the UK. Details of how to do this can be found at www.ico.org.uk.

About this notice
The Nature Friendly Farming Network (NFFN) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how we use them on our website (https://www.nffn.org.uk), and your choices regarding their use.
What are cookies?
If you are just browsing our website, we may collect your data using cookies or other tracking technologies.
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device, such as your computer, phone, or tablet, when you view pages on our website. These cookies allow us to track some of your browsing preferences and optimise how the website works.
While we are not looking to identify you using cookies as the focus is on your device, it may be possible for us to identify you or infer information about you. Unless the cookies are “strictly necessary” to make our website function, we will always ask for your consent before they are placed on your device.
What types of cookies are there?
First-Party Cookies
First-party cookies are hosted on the website you are visiting. They are only set or retrieved by the website while you are visiting it, so they cannot normally be used to track activity or pass data from one site to another. However, the owner of that website can still collect data through their cookies and use that to change how the website appears to the user, or the information it displays.
Third-Party Cookies
Third party cookies are where the host domain or address is not the same as the website you are visiting. They are usually placed in a website via scripts or tags added into the web page. Sometimes these scripts will also bring additional functionality to the site, such as enabling content to be shared via social networks.
Online advertising is the most common use of third-party cookies. By adding their tags to a page, which may or may not display adverts, advertisers can track a user (or their device) across many of the websites they visit.
How are cookies categorised?
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are set to provide the service, application or resource requested. Without these cookies, your request cannot be properly delivered. They are usually set to manage actions made by you, such as requesting website visual elements, pages resources or due user login/logoff. We can also use these cookies to set up essential functionalities to guarantee the security and efficiency of the service requested, like authentication and load balancer request. Consent is not needed to use this category of cookies.
Performance Cookies
These cookies are set to provide quantitative measures of website visitors. Information collected with these cookies is used in operations to measure website or software KPIs, such as performance. With the usage of these cookies, we can count visits and traffic sources to improve the performance of our site and application. If you do not allow these cookies, we will not know when you have visited our site. These cookies can only be used with your consent.
