Join us at Groundswell (26-27 June) for a range of talks, discussions, and workshops, featuring NFFN CEO Martin Lines, Chair of NFFN England, James Robinson, our NFFN Champions, and experts speakers like Dr Claire Whittle. Check out the drop down list below for full details.

    James Robinson is NFFN England Chair, and has extensive experience in hedgerow planting and regeneration at his farm in Cumbria.

    Sam and Claire Beaumont are NFFN Champions, farming in the heart of the Lake District National Park.

  • Breakout Tent

    Martin Lines is CEO of NFFN and an arable farmer. James Robinson is NFFN England Chair, farming in Cumbria. Both are leading advocates for nature-friendly farming in the UK, and have introduced regenerative processes throughout their respective farm businesses.

  • Seminar Tent

    Claire Beaumont’s Gowbarrow Hall Farm in the Lake District combines regenerative grazing with the principles of rewilding. From mob grazing to upland pasture regeneration, Claire and her husband, Sam, have revitalised the landscape of their farm, restoring biodiversity while returning a profit.

  • Speaker’s Corner

    How are dairy farms currently coping with extreme weather events? From heat stress in livestock, to drought and flooding, what can we do to improve farm resilience in a future where extremes become the new normal? This session demonstrates how designing farmed landscapes can help deliver for livestock, their health and welfare, the wider environment and the farm’s bottom line. The panel will discuss current research, knowledge gaps and importantly - how you can plan and implement some of these changes on your own farm now. There will be case studies from farmers who have begun to make adaptations and we will be time travelling to take a look at what their farms could look like in 2050.

    James Robinson is NFFN England’s Chair, while Claire Whittle is a farm veterinary surgeon offering consultancy to regenerative farming businesses. This is a joint session with the Woodland Trust.

  • Agroforestry Tent, Stand PF B12

    Extreme weather events are moving from the exception to the norm, while increasing in frequency and severity. Flood damage alone already costs the UK £1.3 billion a year - a number likely to rise as the Met Office predicts flash floods could be five times more likely by the end of the century. Meanwhile scorching summer temperatures are leaving reservoirs depleted and farmers warning of the impacts as crop yields struggle. Hear from two advisors who are finding practical approaches to improving water quality and reducing flood risk, and farmers impacted by extremes who are making a difference through actively introducing water-centric solutions. With growing evidence and more examples of innovative practices, this is an opportunity to discuss a countrywide problem, from source to sea.

    Debbie Wilkins is an NFFN Champion, and has transitioned her family’s large farm in Gloucestershire towards regenerative practices. Ben Andrews an organic farmer from Herefordshire with a particular passion for wildlife. This is a joint event with the National Trust.
