About the role
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Digital Communications Officer to take a leading role in how the NFFN communicates online. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the digital presence of a growing organisation at the forefront of nature-friendly farming and climate-positive change. Working closely with the Head of Communications, you will lead on the delivery and development of NFFN’s digital channels. You will create high-quality written and visual content, manage and grow our social media presence, and ensure our digital platforms tell compelling stories that inspire farmers, policymakers and the public. This role is ideal for someone who is creative, well organised and confident in digital delivery. You will bring strong copywriting skills, good judgement, and the ability to translate environmental and farming themes into accessible and engaging content. You do not need to be an expert in agriculture, but a passion for environmental issues and sustainability is essential. You will join a small and collaborative team with plenty of opportunities to contribute ideas, lead impactful campaigns, and help strengthen NFFN’s voice across the UK.
Key responsibilities
Leading the development and delivery of NFFN’s social media strategy across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Bluesky
Managing social media channels day-to-day, engaging proactively with audiences and building a strong online community
Overseeing paid social advertising and campaign optimisation
Creating high-quality digital content, including graphics, videos, infographics and written materials
Managing a digital content calendar and identifying opportunities for improved narrative and reach
Planning and producing regular email newsletters
Maintaining and updating the NFFN website, including content audits and SEO improvements
Monitoring and reporting on digital performance using analytics tools
Staying informed on digital trends and proposing improvements to enhance engagement and reach
Who we are looking for
You will bring:
At least 2–3 years’ experience in digital communications
Strong writing and editing skills
Experience running social media channels and creating successful content
Confidence with scheduling tools and analytics software
A good understanding of SEO principles
Creativity, attention to detail and strong organisational skills
The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team
An interest in environmental, sustainable food or farming issues
Desirable skills include experience with Canva or similar design tools, video editing, Mailchimp, Metricool or other social media management platforms.
