Over the coming months, Coed Cadw/the Woodland Trust in Wales and NFFN Cymru will be running a series of farmer knowledge exchange events. These sessions will explore the benefits of trees and hedgerows on farms, from boosting business resilience to supporting nature recovery, tackling climate change, and improving water, soil, and air quality.
Events will include a mix of in-person workshops and online webinars.
29 September 2025 – Introduction to Agroforestry with Tom Clare (IN-PERSON)
Discover how integrating trees into your farm system can improve productivity, animal welfare, and environmental outcomes. This session also covers the practical steps and considerations for designing your own agroforestry system.
30 October 2025 – Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Hedgerows (IN-PERSON)
Learn about the role of hedgerows in biodiversity, soil health, and farm resilience. The workshop will also cover practical management, including planting, rejuvenation, and using the Healthy Hedgerows survey app.
5 November 2025 – Introduction to Agroforestry (WEBINAR)
Explore the benefits of agroforestry and how trees can enhance resilience and sustainability. Hear directly from nature-friendly farmers who will share real-life experiences of integrating agroforestry into their systems.
27 November 2025 – Applied Agroforestry Design (IN-PERSON)
Take your agroforestry knowledge further with this advanced workshop on system design. Learn how to plan and apply agroforestry practices effectively on your own farm.
10 December 2025 – Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Hedgerows (WEBINAR)
This online session will explore the value of hedgerows for wildlife, resilience, and the wider landscape. Practical management, funding opportunities, and the Healthy Hedgerows app will also be discussed.
14 January 2026 – Agroforestry Benefits for Animal Health and Welfare (WEBINAR)
Find out how trees can support livestock systems by boosting productivity, improving nutrition, and enhancing animal welfare. The webinar will share practical insights into integrating tree fodder and shade.
January 2026 (date TBC) – Hedgerow Management (IN-PERSON)
A hands-on workshop providing practical training in hedge planting, laying, and maintenance. Learn how to establish and manage strong, healthy hedgerows that support wildlife and farm resilience.
February 2026 (date TBC) – Weatherproof Farming (WEBINAR)
Led by Niels Corfield, this session focuses on building farm resilience through soil health, sustainable grazing, and reducing reliance on artificial inputs. Farmers will also share experiences of whole-farm planning in practice.
