As the climate changes and biodiversity declines, adopting a holistic approach to pest management is essential. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) offers a comprehensive, whole-farm strategy to address pest, weed, and disease pressures.

Hedgerows and field margins are vital habitats for beneficial invertebrates such as bees, butterflies, beetles, and moths. With careful habitat management and simple steps to reduce reliance on chemicals, farmers can continue producing nutritious food, raising healthy livestock, and supporting resilient ecosystems.

Join us for this NFFN event on the county boundary of Kent, Sussex, and Surrey. Hear from Hedgerow expert Megan Gimber of the People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) during an interactive farm talk and walk.  Steven Lofting and Roland Brown from the Butterfly Conservation will also present on key species in the region.

Lunch will be provided.

Speakers:

Megan Gimber (PTES) - Megan has been working for the People’s Trust for Endangered Species since 2015. She runs training courses and hedgerow walks across the country, promoting the many virtues of hedgerows and how best we can look after them.

Steven Lofting & Roland Brown (Butterfly Conservation) - Steven is the Conservation Manager for South East England and heads up the region's conservation projects on a variety of countryside species such as the brown hairstreak and the wood white. Roland is the Chair of the Kent & South East London Regional Group and an NFFN farmer member. Roland also works with Kent's Plan Tree project helping to conserve the White Letter Hairstreak.
