Arable Management Technical Workshop – Somerset

Overview

Join us to learn about arable plants and how management for these species can fit into modern agriculture.
Arable plants are the fastest declining group of plants in the countryside. They are intrinsically linked to cultivated land meaning there are opportunities for farmers to conserve these species through adjustments to land management. Management for arable plants also enormously benefits a wide range of other farmland wildlife including insects, birds and mammals.
This morning/afternoon workshop, run by Tim Clarke focuses on how to identify some arable plants and how to implement management to benefit these species. There will be a discussion followed by a walk to view some arable plants in suitable management. We will also explore strategies for dealing with problem weed species.
This workshop is for farmers, land managers, farm advisers and agronomists.
The meeting location will be provided upon booking, please do not go to the farm steading.
